Pamell Gallagher [email protected]
Hi! My name is Pamell Gallagher and I began my teaching career at Olivet Elementary in 1996 and it is here I have happily remained. I have taught 3rd, 6th, and now 2nd grade; every day is a new experience and a new challenge. I am always learning, never bored.
Prior to teaching I held a myriad of jobs which funded some exploration. I grew up and went to university in Colorado, moved to San Rafael, moved to Boston, and then back to California where I lived in four very diverse neighborhoods in San Francisco. I met my husband and we packed our bags and set off on various months-long sojourns to southern Europe, northern Africa, central America, and Southeast Asia. We moved to Sonoma County, I got my teaching credential at Sonoma State, and as soon as I was in the classroom I knew this was the job for me!
Outside of school, I like to spend time with my husband, walking and gardening, watching shows with subtitles, reading, enjoying the beauty of Sonoma County, and scheming up new activities to do with my class.
I love teaching with my 2nd grade colleague. A few of the things we learn about in second grade are geography, landforms and earth’s changes, solids and liquids, our place in the community, and how to run a mile! I especially enjoy teaching science, engineering, and math through hands-on experiences.
